Welcome to The Lotus Diary! This is a blog where I share my personal story and experience of suffering with mental health difficulties in order to hopefully let others out there who also suffer from various mental disorders know that they are not alone. My experience is only one variation out of many, many others, and although not everyone will have had the same exact experiences as I have, or even have the same disorders that I do, I hope that people can still read my blogs and relate in one way or another. I want this blog to be a place where people who suffer can come and feel like they are not alone, that they can relate, and that there is hope.
You may be wondering, “Why ‘The Lotus Diary’ ?” Well, in brief, a lotus flower symbolises overcoming struggle. The lotus flower grows in muddy, murky water, eventually rising above the mud to bloom into a beautiful flower. The same idea can be applied to anyone suffering from a mental health disorder. “Like a lotus flower, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness, and radiate into the world.” – Unknown. People with mental health difficulties experience a lot of struggle in life, but just like the lotus flower, we can rise above and overcome our struggle and become the person we want to be, and live the life we want to live; we can be happy. And no matter how dark times may get, just remember: “The deeper the mud, the more beautiful the lotus blooms” -Unknown.
